Many perceive Mauritius as a rock bordered with beautiful beaches, in the middle of an ocean. Not that far from the truth except that on that rock, there are over 1.2 million people of very different origins. This population being hardly 300 year old, the Mauritian culture is yet "under construction." What makes Mauritius interesting is the possibility to discover several cultures in a single destination. Despite the lack of artistic events, museums and means to discover its history and culture, we have endeavoured proposing a few ideas about how to discover a minimum of what makes Mauritius different to other tropical destinations.
